In keeping with our now-annual tradition of letting fans vote for their favorite helmets in our coverage area, the third edition of Helmet Madness begins today with opening-round matchups. This year’s bracket features a record 77 teams out of our 87 area teams participating.
Each day’s matchups will consist of a 24-hour vote where fans may vote once per hour. In the event of a tie during any round before the semifinals, the higher-seeded team will advance.
Seeding was determined by a combination of staff rankings and 2021 playoff results (weighted more by the playoff results), with the three state champions (Oakland, Lipscomb Academy, DCA) earning automatic No. 1 seeds.
