There isn’t a surprise at the top of our first Power 15 poll of the 2021 season, as Oakland opens at No. 1 looking to repeat its 6A title from a year ago and remain unbeaten as long as possible.

Beyond the top spot, several teams can stake a claim to being the Patriots’ successor should they fall, with a few more waiting in the wings to move up if early-season upsets occur.

1. Oakland

2. Ravenwood

Week 1: at MBA. Last season: 7-5, lost in 2nd round of 6A playoffs.

3. CPA

Week 1: at Independence. Last season: 11-2, Division II-Class AA champion.

Week 1: vs. Greater Atlanta Christian (Ga.). Last season: 10-3, lost in BlueCross Bowl.

5. Summit

Week 1: at Henry County. Last season: 14-1, Class 5A champion.

6. MBA

Week 1: vs. Ravenwood. Last season: 6-3, lost in Division II-Class AAA semifinals.

7. Independence

Week 1: vs. CPA. Last season: 7-3, lost in 2nd round of 6A playoffs.

8. Brentwood Academy

Week 1: at Florence (Ala.). Last season: 10-1, lost in Division II-Class AAA semifinals.

9. Beech
