The second round of the playoffs usually brings about several rematches of games earlier in the season or from the previous year’s playoffs.
This week’s second round slate is no different. Among games featuring area teams, 11 such matchups line the schedule with a couple of them being reunions of both regular season opponents and playoff foes from the 2019 postseason.
- Class 1A
- Clay County at Gordonsville: Gordonsville won 20-0 on Sept. 18.
- Class 3A
- East Nashville at Pearl-Cohn: Pearl-Cohn won 42-21 on Oct. 2 and 28-19 in last year’s second round.
- Class 4A
- Nolensville at DeKalb County: Nolensville won 42-6 in last year’s quarterfinals.
- Hardin County at Springfield: Springfield won 28-21 in last year’s quarterfinals.
- Class 5A
- Columbia at Summit: Summit won 35-0 on Sept. 4.
- Hillsboro at Beech: Beech won 14-7 on Oct. 2.
- Clarksville at Northeast: Northeast won 44-14 on Oct. 2.
- Class 6A
- Mt. Juliet at Oakland: Oakland won 24-14 in last year’s second round.
- Independence at Brentwood: Independence won 26-21 on Oct. 24, Brentwood won 20-13 in last year’s second round.
- Franklin at Ravenwood: Ravenwood won 42-21 on Sept. 4.
- Division II-AA
- Chattanooga Christian at CPA: CPA won 35-14 in last year’s quarterfinals.
