Out of the 108 playoff games statewide on Friday, 86 of those were won by home teams. As is usually the case, however, some lower seeds from stronger regions end up advancing, but there will be one game with two teams below .500 in the second round as Whitwell travels to Gordonsville.
Round two usually produces some rematches from the regular season, and that will be the case as well in several instances – notably Ravenwood at Cane Ridge, East Nashville at Pearl-Cohn and Summit at Page.
Division II-AAA rejoins the action this week after having last Friday off. Those teams are two wins away from Cookeville as they begin their postseason journey.
Top-seeded teams went 45-6 in round one, with the notable first-round exit locally by Fairview (Region 6-3A champion), the first time since 2015 that the Yellow Jackets did not advance to the round of 16.
