This week’s Midstate Player of the Week is Springfield senior Kevontay White.
White rushed for 234 yards and four touchdowns on 12 carries in the Yellow Jackets’ 43-0 victory over Greenbrier, helping Springfield earn the right to play for the Region 5-4A title this week at Creek Wood.
After Week 11 games are completed, previous winners will be eligible for selection in the playoffs.

(Photo by Brenda Wilson) Middle Tennessee Christian School senior Kemari McGowan rushed 17 times for 442 yards with 7 touchdowns and 5 2-point conversions in the Cougars’ 60-22 victory at Grace Christian-Franklin in Week 9. The 442 yards set a TSSAA state record for most rushing yards by a quarterback. McGowan, the normal starting tailback, was filling in at quarterback due to injury and illness to the Cougars’ active quarterbacks.
