Nine players from our coverage area were announced as finalists for the 2020 Tennessee Titans Mr. Football Awards.

In Division I, Pearl-Cohn’s Martino Owens is a Class 3A finalist, Summit’s Destin Wade is a 5A finalist and Ravenwood’s Jake Briningstool is a 6A finalist.

Division II finalists include DCA’s Jon Lewis (Class A), Griffin Swinea (Class A), CPA’s Langston Patterson (Class AA), and Father Ryan’s D.C. Tabscott (Class AAA).

Oakland’s Trey Turk and Brentwood Academy’s Teagen Lenderink were two of the three finalists for the Kicker of the Year award, across all classifications.

A committee of statewide sportswriters selected winners based on 2020 regular season performance, with academics and character taken into consideration. High school head coaches and media members nominated the finalists. Postseason performance has no bearing on the winners.

Each finalist will be invited to attend the awards luncheon at Nissan Stadium on Tuesday, Dec. 8.
