615 Preps Spotlight Game series schedule update

0 0

The 2020 season will bring a new feature to our coverage in our 615 Preps Spotlight Game series.

During the regular season, we’ll feature a rivalry game, a big region game or an intriguing matchup between 615 Preps area teams.

It will also have a segment on the 615 Preps Podcast, distributed weekly on various podcast platforms.

However, teams may not appear in Spotlight games more than once in weeks 1-7, so more teams are able to participate.

During Weeks 8 and 9, when most teams have fall break, Spotlight Games may feature teams from earlier in the season or smaller schools.

Weeks 10 and 11 are left open for critical region games, so games with playoff implications will get more consideration.

During the playoffs, we’ll choose the Spotlight Game each Saturday following the previous week’s games.

What if the season is delayed?

If games are cancelled, those teams can appear later. Under the state’s contingency plan, if Week 3 is affected, it moves to the end of the season. If that happens, Week 12 will be listed as TBD. That game will be decided after Week 11 is complete.

Here is the tentative 615 Preps Spotlight Game series schedule for the first seven weeks of the 2020 regular season (Games are subject to change):

Week 1 (Aug. 21) – Stewarts Creek at Mt. Juliet

Week 2 (Aug. 28) – Gordonsville at Smith County

Week 3 (Sept. 4) – Watertown at Trousdale County

Week 4 (Sept. 11) – Hendersonville at Beech

Week 5 (Sept. 18) – Brentwood at Ravenwood

Week 6 (Sept. 25) – MBA at Ensworth

Week 7 (Oct. 2) – Blackman at Oakland

Week 8 (Oct. 9) – TBD

Week 9 (Oct. 16) – TBD

Week 10 (Oct. 23) – TBD

Week 11 (Oct. 30) – TBD

(UPDATE: Due to Montgomery County’s decision to delay games until at least Week 3, the Springfield at Clarksville game is cancelled. A replacement will be named soon.)

(UPDATE 8/12: Week 2 now features Gordonsville at Smith County as the Spotlight Game of the Week.)
