Of the seven local teams left in the Division I semifinals,
five of them have played their semifinal opponent at least once before.
In Oakland’s case, however, Maryville is an annual guest for
their post-Thanksgiving festivities, as they’ve battled on Black Friday every
season since 2014.
Springfield and Haywood are spending their third consecutive
semifinal Friday together, while Trousdale County and Meigs County are battling
in their semifinal sequel from last year.
Pearl-Cohn and Covington faced each other two years ago,
while Ravenwood and Houston squared off in 2016.
How many area teams will get to Cookeville? We’re less than
48 hours from finding out. Have a wonderful Thanksgiving, and catch up on news
