Several area teams are in win-or-else games in the final week of the regular season. Two such games are happening in Montgomery County, where Lebanon visits Rossview and White House Heritage visits Montgomery Central. In both games, the loser will see their season end without a place in the playoffs.
Westmoreland (at Cascade) and Cannon County (vs. York Institute) face similar situations in their regular season finales as well. Games like these are why the schedule is back loaded with region contests every year. The games are more meaningful.
Meaningful also describes the games that will give the winner their region title – Nolensville at Marshall County, Springfield at Creek Wood, Mt. Juliet at Hendersonville, and CPA at FRA.
One thing’s for sure – when the smoke clears after Friday, the road to Cookeville will be set in stone.
Later today, we’ll have the possible first-round playoff opponents for each team.
