James Moore’s nickname might be “Magic,” but on Thursday evening, it was more like “Iron Man.” Moore had 56 carries in Stratford’s 14-7 victory at East Nashville, toting the ball on all but five of the Spartans’ offensive plays (Stratford did not attempt a pass in the game) and scoring twice. The 56 carries tied a 38-year-old state record for most rushing attempts in a game.
He’s the top area rusher so far this season, and still has yet to garner any serious recruiting interest. Not only is he Stratford’s workhorse on offense, he rarely comes off the field, playing linebacker on defense. As he goes, Stratford goes, and the Spartans – and their defense – are going to be a tough out in the postseason.
